What does Pembridge car insurance cover?
All Pembridge car insurance policies in Ontario include coverage required by provincial law that pays for:
- Other drivers’ medical and repair costs and your legal expenses if you’re at fault in an accident that causes injuries or property damage
- Your own medical expenses if you’re injured in a car accident, regardless of fault
- Your own medical expenses if you’re injured by an uninsured driver or in a hit-and-run accident
- Vehicle damage caused by an identified at-fault driver
* As of July 2026, mandatory accident benefits are limited to medical rehabilitation, and attendant care benefits. All other SABS, including income replacement, are optional.
** DPCD coverage may be waived by signing OPCF 49.
Optional Pembridge car insurance coverages and endorsements
In addition to core provincial coverage, you may have the option to add certain optional coverage and endorsements to your Pembridge policy:
* Family protection coverage, or OPCF 44R, is not mandatory in Ontario but is included by default in all Pembridge policies.
Optional coverage may vary by location and isn’t limited to the endorsements listed above. You may want to review your options with a licensed broker to understand all the coverage choices available through Pembridge.
Pembridge car insurance discounts
Pembridge offers at least eight discounts to auto insurance customers in Ontario:
- Multi-line discount: Customers who bundle home and auto insurance with Pembridge are eligible for discounted rates.
- Multi-vehicle discount: If you insure more than one car with Pembridge, you’ll pay less for each vehicle’s premium.
- Mature driver discount: Drivers over age 50 may qualify for lower rates based on age and experience.
- Retiree discount: If you show proof that you’re retired, Pembridge may grant a discount.
- Graduated licensing discount: New drivers may qualify for a one-time, temporary discount after acquiring their G2 or G license.
- Education discount: Pembridge issues discounts to some customers based on the highest level of education they’ve attained.
- Renewal discount: If you stay with Pembridge for multiple years, you might qualify for a small discount at renewal as a reward for customer loyalty.
- Winter tire discount: All insurers in Ontario are required to grant a discount of up to 5% for customers who equip winter tires during the snowy season.
Discount amount and eligibility vary, so speak with your broker to understand the savings you may qualify for.
Pembridge’s usage-based insurance discount: My_BRIDGE®
All primary drivers with a Pembridge policy are eligible to enrol in My_BRIDGE, a usage-based insurance discount program that uses GPS technology to track driving habits in real time. Drivers who successfully demonstrate safe driving behaviours can save up to 30% with My_BRIDGE — and unlike most usage-based discounts, My_BRIDGE can’t raise your rates if it detects unsafe driving.
Pembridge offers drivers the opportunity to test out the program and get a risk-free sense of the potential discount they could qualify for simply by downloading the My_BRIDGE app without signing a program agreement.
- How it works: When you enrol in My_BRIDGE through your insurance broker, you’ll download a mobile app that tracks your driving for six months. At the end of that period, if you’ve driven the full 1,000 km required for monitoring, you’ll see your premium update based on how you drove.
- What it tracks: Speeding (number of kilometres driven over 125 kmph), time of day (elevated risk is defined as 11pm–4am on weekdays and 11pm–5am on weekends), and hard/extreme braking events (a drop of 13 km/hour in 1 second)
- Activation discount: 2.5–10%
- Maximum discount: 30%
- Maximum potential penalty: None
How much does Pembridge car insurance cost?
On average, our data shows that car insurance from Pembridge costs $245/month for a single 45-year-old driver with an all-perils policy and no endorsements. For a household with two cars and two drivers, the same policy costs an average of $408/month.
Keep in mind that these averages are samples and may not represent what you actually pay for car insurance with Pembridge. Your personal car insurance rates depend on risk factors such as:
- Location: Urban areas with dense traffic, as well as auto theft hotspots, tend to see higher average premiums, particularly in the Greater Toronto Area.
- Coverage limits: The more your policy covers, the more it costs to maintain.
- Age: Younger drivers with limited on-road experience typically pay higher premiums, while mature drivers see lower base premiums as well as potential age-based discounts.
- Gender: Women typically pay slightly higher rates for car insurance.
- Vehicle: Safe vehicles with lower statistical claim rates will typically be cheaper to insure. Small SUVs and minivans often have the lowest premiums, while sports cars and luxury vehicles cost more.
- Driving history: If you have any tickets, at-fault accidents, or insurance claims on your recent record, you’ll pay more for car insurance.

The Pembridge car insurance claims process
If you need to file a claim with Pembridge auto insurance, here’s what you’ll need to know.
- Document everything: If you’re involved in a car accident or your vehicle is damaged by another covered peril, be sure to take extensive photos, videos, and notes to document all aspects of the loss. Keep any police reports, doctors’ notes, and insurance information from other parties involved in the incident.
- Contact Pembridge: You can call your local broker, use one of the toll-free numbers listed above, or submit a claim through the website. Provide as much detail as possible about what happened and confirm the type of claim you’d like to file (e.g. collision, accident benefits, etc.).
- Choose your shop: Pembridge offers the Auto Priority Repair Option (PRO), which pairs customers with a local repair shop with an existing business relationship with Pembridge. This cuts down on paperwork and streamlines the repair process — but you still have the option to choose an independent shop if you prefer.
- Work closely with your claims representative: Contact your claims adjuster for any concerns, including rental cars and accident benefit claims during your repair process.
- Pay your deductible and receive your payout: Your Pembridge representative will confirm how payment is made — either directly to your repair shop and/or medical provider, or as reimbursement sent to you as a cheque.
Pembridge’s Claims Experience Guarantee
Pembridge offers a unique claims guarantee to auto customers in Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the claims service you received for a loss covered under your Pembridge auto policy, Pembridge agrees to issue a premium credit equal to the amount you pay for the vehicle involved in the covered loss for the term during which the claim occurred.
To take advantage of this guarantee, you must provide notice in writing within 180 days of the covered loss to Pembridge’s Claim Experience Guarantee Team. Your written notice must include:
- Your name
- Your address
- Your claim number
- The date of the loss
- Your phone number
- The reason you are dissatisfied with the claims experience
