How much does Intact car insurance cost?
On average, Intact car insurance costs $200/month for a single driver with all perils coverage in Ontario, or $337/month for a household with two drivers and two vehicles.
Your actual car insurance quotes from Intact may be higher or lower than these averages based on:
- Location: Intact considers auto theft rates, traffic patterns, and weather risks in your area when setting the cost of coverage.
- Coverage limits: Opting for higher coverage limits will raise your coverage, while sticking to a bare-minimum policy can keep costs low at the expense of financial protection.
- Age: Younger drivers have less on-road experience, so they carry a higher risk of accidents and thus pay higher premiums.
- Gender: In our analysis, women paid slightly higher premiums with Intact when compared to men.
- Vehicle: Newer, more powerful, or more expensive vehicles may cost more to insure. The cheapest vehicles to insure are typically compact SUVs less than 10 years old with robust safety features and limited add-ons.
- Driving history: Intact looks back three years for major and minor driving violations and nine years for at-fault accidents.

The Intact car insurance claims process
If you need to file a car insurance claim with Intact, here’s what you can expect
- Report your claim: Be ready with your policy number, a description of the incident, photo/video documentation of all damage, and a police report (if available).
- Bring your car in for repairs: Intact may recommend that you bring your vehicle to an Intact Service Centre or another body shop that participates in Intact’s Rely Network, but you can choose to take your car to an independent shop that you trust outside of the network.
- Work with your adjuster to arrange payment and authorize repairs: Depending on your choice of shop, Intact may pay the service provider directly or send you a cheque to reimburse you after you make payment for repairs. In either case, remember that you’re responsible for your deductible.
Intact guarantees that, if you file an auto insurance claim over the phone by calling 1-866-464-2424, an Intact claims representative will start your claim within 30 minutes of answering your call and arrange emergency support if needed. If Intact fails to meet this guarantee, you’re entitled to a cheque equal to your entire year’s premiums, up to $1,000.
