Needs assessment: Understanding a client’s needs and wants, financial position and family information enables us to ensure that all life insurance recommendations are suitable. This is both a regulatory requirement and good business. Information collected includes: ages, health status, financial information (debts, savings, investments, monthly expenses, etc.).

Life insurance application: The life insurance application questions we ask clients to complete elicit only the information we need for contractual requirements with the life insurance companies. Information collected includes email address, name, address, phone, birth date, identification number, driving record, medical history, lifestyle information, residency status and beneficiary information.

Third-party data: PolicyMe may also use third-party services to supplement or enrich our understanding of our customers. This includes cross-referencing information like a name, email address or IP address in third-party databases, and using the information there to improve our understanding of you and your business.

Marketing Communications: From time to time, we may obtain your consent to send you email, SMS text messages and other communications about PolicyMe products, services, or events that may be of interest to you. You can opt-out of receiving marketing and promotional email from us by following the unsubscribe instructions contained in each of our email communications.

A request must be in writing and provide sufficient detail to identify your Personal Information and the correction being sought.

When you opt to apply for a life insurance policy with one of our partner companies, we provide your account information to the respective life insurance company to fulfil the application. We also notify them of any updates or changes to your account information. We may use third-party vendors to assist us with monitoring and analyzing our website’s activity, operations and marketing assistance, hosting the website, and maintaining our database. Some of these service providers will be located outside of Canada. We may share your Information with these Third Party Vendors but only as necessary for them to perform their functions and to the extent permitted by law. Use of your Information by these Third Party Vendors is governed by their own privacy policies and procedures and not by this Privacy Policy. By submitting a joint application, you give permission to PolicyMe to disclose or communicate details related to your application with your partner. You are allowing PolicyMe to communicate personal information such as the status of your application or policy, information disclosed as part of the application, results of any associated follow up requirements, your billing details, etc. It does not provide authority for your partner to make changes to your policy on your behalf such as changing your beneficiaries or cancelling the policy.

PolicyMe makes use of an automated decision-making tool for evaluating the underwriting risk of insurance applications. Based on the Prospective Client’s application responses, their application may be automatically approved, declined, or transferred to a professional underwriter for a manual review. We may use third parties such as ad exchanges and data companies to serve our advertisements on our Website or other websites.
